IMPORTANT NOTICE:  As of August, 2007, the CFL Waiver Exam will be testing participants over Office 2007.

After you have completed the registration form for the Computers For Learning waiver examination, your data will be evaluated to ensure that you are eligible to take the exam. The requirements that we look for include:

What's on the exam?Your registration should be received no later than TWO WEEKS prior to the exam date to insure receipt of a written (mailed) confirmation letter.  Late registrations may be accepted at the discretion of the Computers For Learning Coordinator; however, confirmation of registration will only be sent via e-mail.

You must not be currently enrolled in a CIS 101, CSC 101, or CSC 111 class (Registration for the upcoming semester does not count as being enrolled.)

If  you enrolled in the class then decided to take the exam, you must drop the class in the FIRST week of classes.

You must not have taken the exam previously.

You must be already admitted to Southwest Missouri State University.

If you are not eligible to take the exam, you will be notified by mail and/or e-mail.

If you meet these requirements, you can expect the following to take place:

  1. Approximately 10 days prior to the exam, you can expect to receive a letter and/or e-mail telling the exact time and location where the exam is given.  If you register within two weeks of the exam, you MUST provide a valid e-mail address in order to receive confirmation of eligibility to take exam.  Failure to provide a valid e-mail address will nullify your registration.
  2. On exam day, show up ON TIME and bring a picture ID. You will NOT be allowed to take the exam without it.  A driver's license or SMSU student ID is sufficient.

After the exam:

When scores have been calculated (usually completed in less than two business days), you will be notified of the results by mail and/or e-mail.

If you pass the exam, your results will automatically be forwarded to Records and Registration.

If you pass, the waiver will not show up on a degree audit until the end of the current or next semester after you took the exam.

If you pass the exam, but have already enrolled for the course, you will need to drop the course using the established drop/add procedures.
